March 15, 2023-Mayor Goulding Joins Officials and Environmentalists Against the Hochul Housing Plan

On March 13th, Mayor Goulding joined Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, other government officials and environmentalists to oppose the Hochul Housing Plan. The environmentalists included Friends of the Bay, Audubon, Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Protection Committee, North Shore Land Alliance, Hempstead Protection Committee and others.
None of these groups are against Affordable Housing when handled properly, including environmental review. The problem with the Governor's plan is that it precludes environmental review at a time when our area confronts water, sanitation and sewage limitations. All of these groups have joined together to oppose a policy that would be detrimental to our community.
