December 22, 2021-AT&T Tower at Police Station

The Trustees of the Village entered into negotiations with AT&T Wireless for the construction of a cell phone antenna/pole on Village owned property behind the police booth on Rte. 25A.

The decision to negotiate this arrangement was made after careful considering preserving the character of our community and maximizing the financial benefit to the Village and its residents. A consulting firm, with extensive experience, has assisted the Trustees with these negotiations.

The proposed tower would be a tree-like monopole, telecom 80-feet high and would be set back and blending in with existing deciduous trees of a similar height.

Estimates are that if an agreement is finalized the tree/pole would be completed in late 2022. It will be available to other cell phone companies and would improve wireless communication in an area of approximate a half mile radius from the pole. It will also improve police and emergency service communications throughout the Village.

The Trustees unanimously agreed that, given the alternatives, this would be the most beneficial solution to the Oyster Bay Cove community.
