April 29, 2022-Spring Newsletter

Spring is here and a great time to explore our community.  Below is some recent news in Oyster Bay Cove.

Grants

The Village received $50,000 in grant money in 2022 which was used to purchase a new police vehicle and a maintenance truck.

The Village anticipates receiving  $15,000 in energy grants this year.  Due to several initiatives, which included our building inspectors completing current building energy code training; energy benchmark reporting; and the enactment of a new stretch building energy code.  The higher standards of the new building  code will only impact new homes and additions.

In 2022, the Village plans to do a repaving project on Sandy Hill Road, which is a Village owned road,  with funds from several grants.   The Village engineer is currently working on the specs for this project so that we can go out to bid.

Kayak Permits

The demand for Kayak permits at the Village beach remains strong.  The Village was able to add an additional 10 Kayaks racks . With this addition, we are currently at 100% capacity.

Film Permits

During the last week of March, HBO filmed four days in the Village of Oyster Bay Cove.

Vehicle  Thefts

Car thefts continue to be a problem in our area and in neighboring North Shore Communities.  In most cases, key fobs have been left in the car.  Please remove your key fobs and lock your cars to prevent  this crime.

Judicial Appointments

As Mayor, I have appointed Associate Justice Joseph J.  Licata III to the position of  Village Justice replacing Frank Esposito.  Judge Esposito did a fine job and I would like to thank him for his years of dedicated  service.  Judge  Licata III  has been expertly handling the monthly calendar since the end of 2021.  Jonathan Warner, an accomplished trial attorney, has been appointed to be the Associate Justice.

New Residents

We have a wave of new residents in Oyster Bay Cove, as many long time homeowners have decided to relocate at this time.  Please consider introducing yourself to your new neighbors and explaining some of the nuances of Oyster Bay Cove  living.  Many new homeowners who move onto our private roads are not aware of  the related responsibilities and the local ordinances of the Village.   Additionally, they may appreciate your  recommendations  for landscaping and other home services.  The Village also has  hiking trails and sanctuaries which are noted  on our Village website for our residents to enjoy.

Furthermore,  all  residents should register  their email on our website home page  or  contact the Village office with their contact information,  in order  to receive notices, updates, and information about recycling, village taxes etc. This is our primary way of communication.

I hope you all get a chance to get outside this Spring and enjoy Oyster Bay Cove.

Best Regards,

Charles R. Goulding
Mayor
