Beware of Phone and E-Mail Scams

There has been an increase in phone and email scams, especially targeting seniors. People are receiving calls and/or emails to purchase gift cards and/or provide personal, financial, bank or credit card information. Additionally, Officials with PSEG Long Island are warning customers to be vigilant of a phone scam in which perpetrators pose as employees threatening to shut off power unless they receive immediate payments. If you receive one of these calls or emails, please contact the Oyster Bay Cove Police Department immediately by dialing 911, as they are working in conjunction with the Detective Division of the Nassau County Police Department.
