March 25, 2021 at 7 pm Oyster Gardening Public Information Online Session hosted by Friends of the Bay

Join the Friends of the Bay  on Thursday, March 25th at 7 p.m. to learn about how you can help our local waters by gardening oysters.  Since 2017 hundreds of families, individuals, Boy and Girl Scouts, church groups, yacht, bathing and garden clubs have planted tens of thousands of oysters on a protected spawner sanctuary in Cold Spring Harbor.  As part of this presentation you will learn about how oysters serve as “ecosystem engineers” improving water quality, enhancing habitat and protecting shorelines from damaging storms.  Click here to register for the online meeting.

This is a great family and community program for all ages. This year we will have five community gardens throughout Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor for every community to participate.  Here is the  fact sheet about the program and a map of the community garden locations.
